Huangdao Customs recently seized a batch of banned imports of waste cow hide, a total of 108.4 tons.

  The declared import name of the shipment is "wet salt cow scalps". When the customs officers opened the container on the spot, they found the goods stored in the container dirty and rancid. When opening the package of the goods, it was found that the leather blocks with hair, fat and blood were irregular in shape and uneven in color. Most of them had been seriously corrupted and contained a large number of maggots.

  According to the identification of Qingdao Customs Technology Center, the goods are actually rawhide with serious corruption and lack of effective quality control processing. It belongs to the by-product of rawhide processing and is prohibited from import according to law.

  At present, the customs has temporarily detained this batch of goods in accordance with the law, pending further disposal.
