NEWS 2021.02.22

 1. Classification of imported wood

There are many types of imported wood, common ones are pine (radiata pine, mongolica, etc.), eucalyptus, beech, hedgehog red sandalwood (African rosewood), large fruit red sandalwood (Burmese rosewood), dimpled rosewood, two wings Beans, Bahua, Mahogany and so on. Imported timber can be roughly divided into two categories: logs (including rough squares) and boards; it can also be divided into two categories: ordinary timber and endangered timber (mainly endangered rosewood) according to the different documents required for import declaration.
2. The tax rate of imported timber
      Logs: import tariff 0, value-added tax 9%
      Plate: import tariff 0, value-added tax 13%
Regardless of whether it is logs or lumber, ordinary wood or endangered wood species, the import tariff is zero.

      Ordinary wood:
      1. Packing list
      2. Invoice
      3. Contract
      4. Bill of Lading
      5. Declaration elements

      10. Other relevant documents
Remarks: The import of endangered wood species needs to apply for the import CITES convention certificate at the domestic endangerment department with the foreign export CITES convention certificate, which is the endangered certificate)
4. Matters needing attention in timber import declaration
If you do not know the exact name of the imported wood, you need to provide the Latin name of the wood to confirm the wood species (all wood corresponds to only one Latin name). There are many common names for the same kind of wood in China, and even the same common name corresponds to several different types of wood. Therefore, it is important to confirm the Latin name!
At present, most of the mahogany species are endangered wood species, and an endangered certificate is required for import. If there is no foreign CITES convention certificate, the wood cannot be imported formally (nor can you pay for the import declaration)!
The import declaration price (customs review price) of different wood is different. It is recommended that the importing company declare it truthfully, and it is better to prepare in advance the documents and materials that can prove the true value of the foreign exchange payment.
